Ukulele Festival Hawaii College Scholarship Program

The Ukulele Festival Hawaii Scholarship Program is funded by Ukulele Festival Hawaii, a non-profit organization founded in 2004. Ukulele Festival Hawaii seeks to build public awareness and interest in the ukulele as an instrument of virtuoso quality, promoting Hawaii’s arts and culture through quality education, college scholarships, and the free annual Ukulele Festivals.

Scholarship Award: $2,000

Criteria:

  1. Be a current graduating high school senior and resident of Hawaii

  2. Be accepted for admission to an accredited college or university

  3. Have a passion for the ukulele

  4. Be of good character and provide meaningful community service

Application Process:

  1. Completed application form (type or print neatly)

  2. Personal Statement Essay (one page, typed)

    • Describe your education plans, career goals, and college financial needs. (20 points)

    • Describe your love for the ukulele and what the ukulele means to you. (40 points)

    • Include your volunteer/community service activities. (20 points)

  3. Two (2) letters of recommendation, one must be from a high school teacher, that detail your involvement in school, community service activities and accomplishments. A relative or close friend is not acceptable. (10 points)

  4. Demonstrate financial need. (10 points)
    Optional: First page of your parents’ federal income tax return (Form 1040). Please conceal social security number.

Deadline for application is April 30.
Applications postmarked after this date will not be accepted.
